Heat Recovery Ventilators (HRV)
A mechanical ventilation system that employs a counter-flow heat exchange between the inbound and outbound airflow. HRVs provide fresh air and improved climate control, while also saving energy by reducing the heating (or cooling) requirements.
Why install an HRV?
As building efficiency has improved with insulation, weather stripping and better doors and windows, buildings are intentionally made more air-tight, and consequently, less ventilated by passive air flow. With increased energy efficiency in homes, the need for an HRVs has become more important.
